Schlim continuing academic and basketball career at NEC

Auburn, ME - USCAA All-American, Jenny Schlim, has committed to Erica Ledy and New England College for the fall.  The late decision comes after schlim received interest from ove a dozen of DIII schools throughout New England as well as several DII and NAIA schools throughout the country.

Schlim is coming off an amazing year for the Lady Mustangs.  She was acknowledged as a Yankee Small College Conference 2nd Team All-Star, USCAA Honorable Mention All-American, and USCAA National Tournament All-Tournament Team selection.  Most importantly, Schlim helped lead the Lady Mustangs tot he USCAA DII National Cahmpionship.  During the semi-final and championship games, Schlim combined to score 33 points on 55% shooting.  During the season, she recorded a program-record, 17 offensive fouls.

According to Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "I am extremely excited for Jenny and proud of her for accomplishing her academic and athletics goals here at CM.  I honestly believe Coach Ledy and NEC is getting an NE-10, division two calibur player.  Jenny has the highest basketball IQ of any player I have ever coached, and she is so versatile on the court.  During her career here at CM, there have been multiple games where she played all five positions for us.  Coach Ledy recruited Jenny in high school and stayed in touch with both Jenny and myself throughout Jenny's two years here.  She battled through some serious pain this past season, a lot of which she hid from people outside of our team, it was a struggle, but her perserverence was rewarded by the title of 'National Champ'.  Jenny is a high school state champion, a college conference and national champion, and I am hoping her good fortune follows her to Henniker."

Schlim on moving on to NEC, "It has been such a weird feeling getting closer to move-in day at my next school, because it still feels like my friends and I are going to be moving back into CM to spend another year together. The bonds that are created there are unlike any others. I have made lifelong relationships throughout the community. It is going to be hard to top the experience I had at Central Maine. It isn't everyday that the team you are on makes history, and that is a moment that I will never forget.  However, I am very excited to continue my education and basketball career at New England College. The school has been so friendly and welcoming to me and my family. They really have taken the time to show that they care about creating an opportunity for me to succeed at their school. The head coach of the women's basketball team has continued to support me in my basketball career since high school. Coach Ledy is one of the most genuinely nice and supportive coaches I've come across, and I'm lucky to join her team this fall."

NEC finished 21-7 last year, losing in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship game.  The Pilgrims have won at least 19 games in each of the last 3 seasons.
