PREVIEW: Lady Mustangs set to host SMCC

Auburn, ME - This year's match-up with Southern Maine Community College will add a unique chapter to one of the state's best college basketball rivalries.  Both teams come into Wednesday's matchup undefeated, with each team standing at 13-0.  In addition to the perfect records, CM sits atop the USCAA National Coaches Poll followed closely by the #2 Seawolves.

The teams split last year, each winning on the road.  CM got the win down in South Portland in December last year, winning 68-38, before falling to the Seawolves in Auburn, 58-53, in February.  Over the last 10 meetings, the Lady Mustangs hold a 7-3 advantage.

About SMCC:  Senior, Jennifer Conrad leads the SMCC in points and rebounds per game, averaging 15.2 and 7.5. Freshman, Alicia Ruth averages an even 10 points-per-game and ranks first in the YSCC in three-point percentage, making 37.9 percent from beyond the arch.

The Lady Mustangs have 12 players playing at least 10-minutes per game, with no one playing more than 21-minutes per game.  The depth has allowed CM to wear teams down over 40-minutes and has seen 10 different Lady Mustangs score in double-figures already this season.

According to Head Coach, Andrew Morong, "We hope all of the CM faithful come out to support our women who have worked extremely hard so far this year.  Their work ethic, on the court and in the classroom, is a great representation of what it means to be a student-athlete.  This rivalry is not duplicated at many other places in the state of Maine and always amounts to an intense game.  Go Mustangs!"

The newest matchup in the rivalry tips-off Wendesday at 6:00pm in Kirk Hall.  One team will enter the holiday break unblemished and atop the national poll, while the other will suffer their first set-back of the season.  For those who cannot make it to Auburn, the game will be streamed LIVE at www.CMMustangs.com and will include live stats, and coach & player interviews.
