Mustangs Survive 4-Hour Marathon, Winning 15-8

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs trailed buy as many as five runs, but came back to defeat the Wolverines of Bridgton Academy 16-9 in Auburn Tuesday night.

Lead off hitter Teddy McFarland led the Mustangs with two hits and two runs scored. Wyatt Knightly, Mason Booker, Kaleb Thompson and Garren Post each collected hits with Post's being a double.

Brandon Gour tied the game in the 6th with a sac fly that scored Gage Hubbard. After that, the Mustangs took advantage of the Wolverines miscues and never looked back.

The Mustangs used a different pitcher every inning but it was Connor Madden who picked up his first collegiate win in relief. The pitching staff gave up three hits while striking out 13.

The wet weather conditions were not ideal as both teams combined for 35 walks and seven throwing errors.

"I'm happy with the win despite it being very ugly" said head coach Ryan Palmer. He continued, "I'm very proud of the guys for never giving up and coming back after being down five runs. Wee do have a lot to work on before we start conference play this weekend."

The Mustangs have a busy weekend as they host NHTI in a doubleheader on Friday night beginning at 4:00. Then Quincy College from Mass comes to town on Sunday for a twin bill beginning at 1:00
