In what was likely his last time on the mound as a CM Mustang, Rhen Trinidade pitched the first five innings to pick up the win in a 15-5 mercy rule-shortened game against Quincy College on Tuesday afternoon. Trinidade gave up four runs, three earned, and struck out two. Jeff Meisner came in relief and pitched the last two innings.
Offensively, Logan Carpenter led the way with four hits, all of which were doubles. Lee Robertson and Kaleb Thompson each had three hits, with Thompson adding three RBIs. Brandon Gour, Brogan McCormick, and Kyle Delano were also repeat hitters. In the sixth inning, Gage Hubbard added a pinch-hit home run.
"Rhen Trinidade is the ultimate teammate, and I couldn't be happier for him," said head coach Ryan Palmer. "He knew when he walked off the mound after the fifth inning that that was probably his last time pitching for us," he added. "It's been an absolute pleasure coaching him."
"Offensively, we were very solid. It was nice to see Logan and Brogan have big games."
The Mustangs are back in action Saturday for the Yankee Small College Conference playoffs. They will face off against #3 York County Community College at 11:00 am at the Ballpark in Old Orchard.
