Mustangs sweep doubleheader

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs received dominant pitching and key hits as they swept the Hawks of York County Community College in a doubleheader on Friday night.

In game 1, Trevor Phelps threw a complete game scatting six hits, striking out six and a very efficient pitch count of 87 as the Mustangs handled the Hawks 3-1. 

Gage Hubbard had two hits including a two run single in the fifth inning to give the Mustangs a 3-0 lead. Colton Frisbie also added two hits and Levi Tibbetts contributed with a double. 

In game 2, Grady Cummings went the distance in a complete game shutout and striking out six to blank the Hawks 9-0. 

Hayden Durrell had a breakout game with two hits and four RBI to lead the Mustangs attack. Wyatt Knightly also added two hits while Mason Booker and Teddy McFarland added doubles. 

 "These were two big wins for us" said head coach Ryan Palmer. "I cant say enough about our pitching tonight. Just stellar. York County is a very good team who have played everyone in the conference tough. They are very well coached. We are still battling injuries but we have had some players step up big." 

The Mustangs have the weekend off and are back in action Tuesday as they travel to SMCC for a 3:30 first pitch
