First Innings Woes Doom Mustangs

Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs gave up five runs in the first and could not quite catch up in a 10-6 loss to rival SMCC. The Mustangs cut the deficit to 6-5 but thats as close as they could get.

Hudson Burris led the Mustangs with four hits including a double and two RBI. Trevor Phelps had two hits and a double along with an RBI. Levi Tibbetts and Avery MacWhinnie each collected RBIs for the Mustangs.

Craig Burnett, Logan Carpenter, Connor Madden and Derek Roman shared the pitching duties for the Mustangs.

"Our main concern right now is health." said head coach Ryan Palmer. "We are a banged up squad and our top priority is to get healthy. It is a marathon, not a sprint." he added.

The Mustangs are back in action Friday night with a twin bill against York County Community College in Auburn beginning. First pitch scheduled for 5:00pm.
