Auburn ME, what has become a great rivalry over the years proved on Friday night as the Mustangs and Thomas college fought another hard battle

 

1st period the Mustangs would start quick with Jakob Johnson burying a rebound on the powerplay. The Mustangs would continue to dominate and control the pace of play however the Terriers would find 2 quick goals on defensive mistakes. " Very childish mistakes by us, we can't give up those easy goals" Said Coach Knoren 

 

The 2nd period the Mustangs would continue to press and it would be Evan Knowlton tipping a shot by Nate Marcotte to find the equalizer. However, another mistake by the Mustangs saw the Terriers score on a semi-breakaway. Resiliency was needed and a 5-3 situation saw Gabe Poirier unleash a rocket after a nice passing play by Matt Poirier and Jason Melanson 

 

3rd period 3-3 game it felt like the next goal would win it was Jason Melanson who would use his speed on the outside to find the net and give the Mustangs a much needed 4-3 lead. A solid last 5 minutes would be enough for the Mustangs to earn them the 7th win of the season

 

Coach Knoren Said" We would have liked to get a little more goal differential for the rankings, but I am proud of the team for being discipline and sticking with the game plan, if we continue to dominate and start limiting our d-zone mistakes we will take that next step as a team""
