Mustangs Hockey takes St. Josephs by Storm

Auburn ME,

After a week of rest and recovery and some good family time for the players, the Mustangs were back in action at home against St Joseph's College of Maine. With the new rankings coming out the same day and seeing the Mustangs ranked at #25 the team was fueled to get the win on Friday night.

After a slow start in the first period the Mustangs would break through with a great pass from Cam Knowles finished off by Evan Knowlton, after that they didn't look back and kept applying the pressure and gave themselves a 4-0 lead into the break. Goals by Matt Poirier, Nate Marcotte and Jack Keefe.

2nd period has been the Mustangs worse period during the year, but this time they were able to keep it steady not giving anything up in the defensive zone and it would be Matt Poirier finding his 2nd goal of the night on a turn around shot making the intermission score 5-0.

3rd period the Monks would score on a 5-3 situation in the early stages, but after that the Mustangs went back to work establishing the control of the game and getting 3 more goals by Luke Pomerleau, Gabe Poirier and Diego Alonso

Coach Knoren'' This is a very solid effort by our whole group, we needed a +5 and we established that pretty early on the game. Very proud of Gage Ducharme picking up his 1st win of the year adding 26 saves in the process, he has been a true professional staying patient and working hard in practice to be ready to play when called upon. Gage deserved this win he is a true team player one of the first guys to show up in the morning to get himself ready, he understands what CM is about and he executes it''

Mustangs will be back in action on Sunday traveling to face Harvard University
