Women's Basketball strikes again in the Sunshine State

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is pleased to announce the commitment of Cyla Moore (West Palm Beach, FL) of Palm Beach Gardens High School. The 5'11" forward, played at the same high school as current Mustang, Tatianna Saint-Louis. Moore earned Palm Beach Post Honorable Mention as a senior, while winning the District Championship in each of her 4 seasons at PBGHS. Off the court, Moore has a huge impact at her high school. She was Student Government Secretary for 4 years, Best Buddies Treasurer for 2 years, Class Council Historian for 3 years, a member of the Black Student Union, a Proud Ally of the Gay Straight Alliance, and the Marine Biology Academic Achievement Award recipient.

On her commitment, Moore stated, "I choose CM because on my list of wants and needs CM checked all of the boxes. Not only do I feel it will be a new place to call home but I've also gained a new village of people to call family. Through my entire recruitment process I've been treated with absolute love and care. I am excited to be coming to CM this fall and I cannot wait to part take in all the activities and adventures CM has to offer. I am excited to meet new people, learn new things and to have the ability to come back home to my family to tell them about how I made the right decision. What I am most excited about when it comes to playing basketball at CM would be breaking records and continue streaks. I am elated to help keep the CM basketball reputation alive in the best way I possibly could. College basketball is definitely an entirely different beast. The amount of skills I have now does not compare to the skill set I will have obtained over the next two years at CM. I'm sure there is a lot that I think I know but I don't and I am willing to learn so that I reach my fullest potential. Not only do I see me bettering myself but the program as well. Attributes I'd bring to team next year are hard work, motivation, determination, eagerness, compassion and leadership; these are all characteristics I hold and that have made me the young lady I am today. I always give off of positive energy so when ever I'm near expect a smile and my teammates will always get encouragement and applauded by me rather it be something good or bad."

According to Coach Morong, "Cyla is a fantastic young woman. She has an infectious personality that people are just naturally drawn to. She loved engaging in her school and community, and I am excited to see how she gets involved at CM off the basketball court. On the court, she is a physical presence in the paint with tremendous athleticism. She is tough and is not going to back down. I believe Cyla will work extremely hard, not only in practice and games, but on her own time. She should make an immediate impact, and as her versatility grows, she could become an impossible matchup."
