Auburn, MEMarney Rees and Brooke Piscitelli each scored a career-high 22 points and Zoe Bedford knocked down four three-pointers, as the CMCC women's basketball team impressed with a 112-28 victory over Washington County Community College. The Mustangs improve to 5-0 on the early season and 3-0 on their home court.

Head coach Andrew Morong looked to split the game evenly between two platoons of five players, with nine of them getting on the scoresheet. Central Maine put up 30 points in the first quarter to set the tone for the game. Bedford racked up eight points in the first ten minutes while Ella Lavigne grabbed five rebounds.

Rees was particularly difficult to stop in the paint, finishing the first half with 13 points and six rebounds while shooting 6-for-9 from the field. When the halftime horn sounded the Mustangs had a 53-11 lead going into the locker room.

Jenny Chaput led the scoring effort in the third quarter with eight points and Piscitelli racked up nine in the fourth while shooting 2-for-5 from beyond the arc. Five Mustangs total finished in double-digit scoring with Lavigne (14), Bedford (14) and Chaput (17) joining Rees (22) and Piscitelli (22). Rees and Lavigne both had double-doubles with good games on the boards. CMCC shot 49.5% from the field and outrebounded WCCC 56-29.

The first-year Golden Eagles women's basketball program continues to make strides in their inaugural season, getting all five starters on the scoreboard. They host the Mustangs on their home court on January 19th.

CMCC now prepares to face another in-state foe, with USCAA Division I UMaine-Fort Kent heading to Auburn to finish off the two-game weekend homestand. The Mustangs and Bengals tip off on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
