Auburn, ME – CMCC Women's Basketball hit the century mark for the fourth time this season with a 109-46 victory over Bryant & Stratton-Albany. Ava Smith, Marney Rees, and Cassie Ririnui each put up a double-double and Ella Lavigne paced the team with a game-high 20 points. All 11 players available for Central Maine had at least one field goal as the team improved to 14-0.
The Mustangs galloped out of the gate to take a 36-9 lead in the first quarter. Lavigne scored half of her points for the game in a seven-minute stretch with Rees going 3-for-4 and contributing seven points through the first ten minutes. CMCC added 25 more in the second quarter to build a 61-21 lead at halftime.
Seven different players scored in the third quarter as Central Maine put up another 25 points while limiting the Bobcats to just eight. All 11 players saw the court in the fourth quarter with the Mustangs cruising to a 63-point win.
Lavigne's 20 points means the Fort Collins, CO native has seven games with 20+ points this season. Smith registered her sixth double-double of the campaign while Rees recorded her second and Ririnui her first. Jenny Chaput had 16 points off the bench and every player finished with at least three points, including newcomer Autumn Peterson who tallied her first three-pointer.
CMCC finishes off a three-game stretch against non-conference opponents when they welcome Massasoit Community College to Auburn, ME on Wednesday, January 15th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
