Albany, NY – Ella Lavigne, Ava Smith and Hunter Hartsgrove each scored more than 20 points to lead CMCC women's basketball to a 90-53 victory over Bryant & Stratton College-Albany to close out their weekend trip to New York. Eleven different players logged 15 minutes or more of time on the court as the Mustangs eased past their undermanned USCAA DI opponent.
Central Maine had just a 15-11 lead over the Bobcats through the first quarter, but Bryant & Stratton-Albany started to tire in the second quarter allowing CMCC to pull away. When the clock hit triple zero for halftime the Mustangs were up 44-19 having outscored the Bobcats 29-8 in the second ten-minute period.
The visitors kept the pressure on in the third quarter, more than doubling them up 30-16 allowing them to play around more in the fourth with different combinations of personnel on the floor.
Lavigne finished the night with a game-high 26 points and added 10 rebounds for the double-double. Smith put up a career-high 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, that included pulling down 11 boards off the offensive glass. Hartsgrove followed up her 31-point performance from the day before by dropping another 21 points in this one.
Dasia Edmond paced Bryant & Stratton-Albany with 18 points while Mei-Lin Calliste (15) and Paris'Alana Jones (12) also reached double digits. The Mustangs had nearly a two-to-one margin advantage on the boards, winning the rebound battle 59-30. They also dealt out 23 assists with Lavigne posting a team-high four.
CMCC heads into the Thanksgiving break with an 8-0 record including a 4-0 mark on their home floor and 2-0 in YSCC play. The Mustangs have a busy weekend ahead of them when they return to the court in December, starting with Berkeley College-NY on Friday, December 6th before back-to-back games against conference opponents Paul Smith's College and Vermont State University-Randolph on Saturday and Sunday.
