Four Players With Double-Doubles in Win vs NHTI

Auburn, ME – CMCC Women's Basketball cruised to a 106-28 victory over NHTI at Kirk Hall on Tuesday night. Four different players put together double-doubles on the stat sheet and six players scored in double figures for the injury-plagued Mustangs, who had only nine healthy players to dress.

Central Maine's defense once again impressed, holding the Lynx without a field goal through the first 15 minutes. The hosts raced out to a 30-5 lead after the first quarter and were up 54-15 at the intermission thanks in large part to 10 points from center Cassie Ririnui. The freshman from New Zealand completed her double-double before halftime, as the Mustangs built a commanding lead.

Point guard Stella Laubenstein was lights out in the third quarter, shooting 3-for-3 from the field including a pair of three pointers, and dealt out three assists in the ten-minute stretch. The Austin, TX native finished with a career-high 17 points in the win.

Autumn Peterson continued her impressive stretch of play in the fourth quarter. She knocked down three shots from beyond the arc to bring her total to the night to six and a game-high 20 points. The Narraguagus High School product now has 66 combined points in her last three contests.

Joining Ririnui (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Peterson (20 points, 10 rebounds) with double-doubles on the night were Farah Attallah (18 points, 15 rebounds) and Marney Rees (13 points, 11 rebounds). Jenny Chaput joined Laubenstein in double figures with 12 points. It was the fifth straight game with 10+ points and eleventh overall this year for the Auburn, ME native.

Head coach Andrew Morong's squad is now 18-0 on the year and 7-0 in YSCC play. The Mustangs continue their busy stretch with the second of six games in ten days when they visit Vermont State University-Randolph on Friday, January 24th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
