Calais, ME – The CMCC women's basketball team scored more than 100 points for the fifth game this season, picking up a 105-40 victory on the road against Washington County Community College. Autumn Peterson led the way with another seven three-pointers and a game-high 25 points, while Ella Lavigne posted her ninth double-double of the campaign.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter and added another 24 in the second to go up 48-20 at the break. Central Maine continued to stifle the hosts after halftime and finished with 17 steals. The team combined for 12 three-pointers with Brooke Piscitelli knocking down three of her own from outside.
Lavigne put up 21 points continuing her streak of double-digit scoring in every game this season. The Fossil Ridge High School product added 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes worth of work. Jenny Chaput added 18 points off the bench, Farah Attallah scored 13, and Piscitelli rounded out a quintet of players in double figures with 11 of her own.
CMCC shot 49.4% from the floor and won the rebound battle 54 to 28. The Mustangs finished off a season sweep of the Golden Eagles, combining for 217 points across the two contests. Central Maine now enters a stretch run against YSCC teams, facing six conference opponents over the next ten days.
The women's team starts with a match-up against NHTI in Auburn on Tuesday, January 21st. The Mustangs and Lynx get started at 6:00 pm.
