Women’s Basketball Holds Off CCRI, 69-58

Warwick, RI – CMCC Women's Basketball started off the 2025 portion of their season on the right foot, picking up a 69-58 victory on the road against the Community College of Rhode Island Knights. Riley Hebler led the way with 21 points while Ava Smith and Ella Lavigne both recorded double-doubles.

The teams battled through an even first quarter with the Mustangs getting back into the swing of things after the holiday break. Head coach Andrew Morong's squad held a 14-13 lead after the first ten minutes, but opened it up in the second quarter, outscoring CCRI 24-9. That gave Central Maine a 38-22 advantage going back into the locker room.

CMCC kept it up after halftime, scoring another 19 points and leading by as many as 25 heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Knights would come storming back pulling within six points and putting the pressure on. The Mustangs hit their shots at the end to hold off the comeback attempt and keep their undefeated season intact with an 11-point victory.
