Visiting Mustangs Rope in Herons 92-77

Dover, NH – The Mustangs traveled to Dover tonight to play the Herons of Great Bay Community College and left town with a convincing 92-77 win.

A strong first half, led by Luke McCuskers four straight three's has the visitors off to a good start.  CM jumped out to a 24-17 lead after the teams traded baskets the first eight minutes of the game.  Strong half-court defense and hot shooting sent the Mustangs to the locker room with a 56-37 Lead at the half.

Coach Gonyea was pleased with the squad's effort. "we talked a lot the last few days regarding a sense of urgency in our games said Gonyea.  We changed up the starting lineup attempting to light a fire in some starters and give some of our bench kids an opportunity.  Tyheim Burgess accepted the challenge and was a spark, especially on the defensive end.  I also can't say enough about Luke (McCusker).  He wanted to show in front of his home fans (he is from Dover) and was fired up ready to play—and he delivered.  At the end of the day, I was pleased with the kids commitment."

CM let off the gas a bit in the second half but managed to hold the Herons at bay.

The Mustangs improve their record to 9-3 and conference record to 5-1.  Conference foe Paul Smith comes to Auburn Sunday to play the Mustangs at 3pm.
