Auburn, ME - Part of maintaining a program with a tradition of winning, is recruiting players who come from highly successful high school programs.  That is exactly what the Lady Mustangs have done in gaining the commitment from Spruce Mountain's, Nicole Hamblin.  While playing varsity basketball for 4 years, Hamblin helped the Phoenix to a 71-1 regular season record, and a perfect 36-0 record on their home court.

According to Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "I think Nicole is a great fit for our programs for many reasons.  Not only does she know how to win, but she knows how to do so under pressure.  It is not easy playing with the distraction of long win streaks on the line every night, getting every teams best shot, night in and night out.  Her competitiveness and ability to distribute the basketball are going to significantly bolster our back court play.  During her high school career she played for two incredible coaches, first Gavin Kane, and then Chris Bessey - so we know she will be prepared and have the right mindset to hit the ground running this fall."

Hamblin added, "I chose CM because I wanted to continue my basketball career, but also stay close to home.  CM's new Life Science degree program was also very attractive to me, because I will be able to save money as I pursue my academic goals.  I am really looking forward how competitive the basketball program is on a daily basis; everyone on the team was one of the best players on their high school team.  Everyone is going to work extremely hard, every night, and that will push me to the next level as a player."

Not only was she successful on the hardwood, but Hamblin was also an Honor Roll student, while being involved with the book club, drama club, humanities club, varsity field hockey, and varsity tennis.
