Auburn, ME - The young Lady Mustangs took the University of New Brunswick - St. John Seawolves in their second game of the season and second game of the 21st Annual Can-Am Tournament. The results were different from their opening season loss to STU, as the Lady Mustangs led at each quarter break on their way to a 72-56 victory.
Allie Ablondi (Thompson, CT) led the charge with 18 points while pulling in 7 rebounds. Alex Rowe (South Paris, ME) recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Frankie Lally (Auburn, ME) was the third CM starter in double figures, tallying 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Seawolves were paced by Kelsey Simon, who knocked in 4 first half 3's on her way to a team high 16 points.
Freshman guard, Samantha Maxfield (Hollis, ME) had another impressive outing off the bench, ripping down a game high 12 rebounds to go along with her 5 points. In her first career game, freshman guard Nicole Hamblin (Fayette, ME) dished out a team high 5 assists to go with 5 rebounds.
With the win CM improves to 1-1 on the year and will wrap-up the Can-Am Tournament Sunday afternoon when they take on the Lions of Cegep Champlain - St. Lawrence.
