Auburn, ME - On Friday the Yankee Small College Conference held their annual men's and women's basketball awards banquet, honoring teams, players, and coaches for their achievements over the last 5 months.  Alex Rowe, the 5'10" sophomore forward from South Paris, ME (Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School), was named to the women's basketball All-Conference 2nd Team.

As a first year player in 2014-15, Rowe averaged just 6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, making only 2 starts and scoring in double digits 4 times.  This season Rowe is currently averaging 11.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.  Her points and rebounds per game averages are both team-highs.  Rowe has started every game this year, scoring in double figures 15 times, including a career high 31 points on February 6th against Hampshire College.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Rowe's contributions, "Alex has had a great year, and has made significant improvements is almost every aspect of her game.  Leading the team in points and rebounds per game is a great accomplishment, as is being named to the All-Conference Team, but her contributions to this program go far beyond what is tracked in box scores.  Alex is a great role model, working full-time, going to school full-time, and somehow finding the way to be a high level basketball player.  She is a tremendous leader, and has been our rock since day one of this season.  We are so happy for her to be receiving this honor, it is well deserved, and hopefully it gives her even more confidence as we look to go deeper in the YSCC Tournament."

Rowe and the rest of the 3rd seeded Lady Mustangs will be back in action on Saturday, when they take on the 2nd seeded Moose of UMaine-Augusta at 2:00pm for the right to play for the YSCC Championship on Sunday.
