South Portland, ME - Anything can happen in rivalry games, especially on the road, so the young Lady Mustangs did not take anything for granted.  CM used several different defenses, a dominating performance on the boards, and timely shooting to pull away from the Seawolves, 68-38.  A 4-point game at the half, turned into a quick double digit lead for the Lady Mustangs in just the first couple of minutes of the 3rd quarter.  CM only allowed one SMCC field goal in the final quarter to put them away for good.

Alex Rowe (South Paris, ME) dominated in stretches of the game, finishing with a game high 17 points.  Rowe also had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block.  The freshmen backcourt of Seve Deery-Deraps (Rangeley, ME) and Nicole Hamblin (Fayette, ME) combined for 31 points, including 5 threes, while shooting 57% from the floor.

Sophomore, Macy Welch (North Anson, ME) made several key plays off the bench.  In addition to taking an offensive foul and blocking a shot, Welch scored 4 points and pulled down a team high 7 rebounds.

CM held SMCC to a mere 27.6% (16-58) shooting from the floor and 7% (1-14) from the 3-point line, including just 5 total field goals in the 2nd half.

According to Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "I thought we did a great job playing our game.  We made adjustments on the fly, which they never adapted to.  We forced a lot of one-pass shots, and conversely we were taking shots off the 4th, 5th, or 6th pass; while we were down in stance ready to shoot.  Our discipline on both ends of the floor, especially in the second half, was outstanding.  Everyone made some sort of a positive impact, and we played with a lot of confidence. We'll enjoy this rivalry win for the rest of the night, and then we are back to business getting ready for CCRI on Friday."

With the win, CM has now won 6 of their last 7 games and improves to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the Yankee Conference.
