Women's Basketball Lands Second International Recruit

Auburn, ME – Jane Lester, a 5'11" post from Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia has committed to play women's basketball at CM this coming season.  Lester has been a member of her school and district teams competing at the state level for the last 6 years.  She was a member of the U15 State Emerging Team, as well as the U17 Emerging team who traveled to California to compete.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Lester's commitment, "Adding a second international player to our 2016 recruiting class is extremely exciting.  Jane will bring a variety of exceptional skills to table, and with her size and strength should be able to make an impact from day one.  We are excited to watch Jane grow on and off of the court during her time here at CM.  We think she has tremendous upside, and will bring a unique basketball experience to the table that will make our program even better."

According to Lester, "I chose CM because it is a smaller college with fantastic facilities. The classes will have fewer students in them which means I will have more support and be able to communicate better with the teaching staff.  The college offers a range of great programs. Coach Morong has been very supportive throughout the recruiting process.  The college is in a beautiful area which I'm looking forward to exploring.  It is a smaller campus so it will be easier to move around and living on campus close to training and classes will be beneficial.  I am looking forward to living with my teammates and developing friendships."

She continued, "I know that college basketball will more physical and faster than my high school games.  The basketball will provide more consistent competition. I am really looking forward to learning more as a player from Coach Morong and the team.  I am currently playing in a Women's competition with experienced ex-college players and I think College basketball will be similar to that but with a faster pace. I am really looking forward to developing my skills as a player, competing against strong competition, and being with players who are looking to do their best on and off the court.  I'm excited to be given the chance to study and play basketball in the US at the college level."
