Sabine returning to CM as assistant coach

Auburn, ME - Maggie Sabine, who left CM as one of the most decorated female-athletes in the history of the women's basketball program, is returning for the 2015-16 season as an assistant coach.  After wrapping up the 2012-13 season for the Lady Mustangs, Sabine accepted a full basketball scholarship to St. Michael's College, a NCAA DII school in Colchester, VT.

Sabine, who was named to the to the NE-10 Honor Roll a total of 12 times in her career at St. Michael's, spent her last two seasons with the Purple Knights, starting all 52 games and averaging 11.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  She poured in a career high 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, in a game vs. Pace University (1/25/14), and also recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds vs. Bentley College in a nationally televised game on the CBS Sports Network.

While at CM, Sabine was twice named the Yankee Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, a Yankee Conference 1st Team All-Star, and a USCAA 1st Team All-American.  Between the two schools, she recorded 1,241 career points, ranking her 3rd on CM's all-time scoring list.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Sabine's hiring, "This is such a great moment for our program.  We are thrilled that Maggie has decided to come back home to CM and give back, even more than she already has, to our program.  Her knowledge of our program coupled her with experiences at the scholarship level, will not only make her a valuable asset to our players, but to me as well.  Our student-athletes and I, are going to greatly benefit from her presence - she will undoubtedly push us all to the next level.  With our reputation of sending girls on to the next level, and the influx of talent we have coming in, Maggie will be able to help guide our young women through all of the processes required in playing at our level, and at the scholarship level.  They will be able to connect with her, in multiple areas, on and off the court."

According to Sabine, "I am beyond excited to be back at CM, and to coach along side Andrew.  I really wanted to coach at CM because it opened so many doors for me over the past couple of years, and I really felt it was important for me to give back.  I am really looking forward to empowering our female athletes as they work hard and pursue their goals."
